All in a weeks work!

Well it’s been a while since I have submitted anything on here and even though I have nothing but idle wonderings to put down tonight I think that will have to do.

Work is still going ok. I should say work is still going actually because my temporary contract has been extended by another 4 months which is nice. I did have to work for almost a week without a contract though while the personnel department tried to decide if I was staying or not. We are going through a weird time at the moment. They are not allowed to hire any new staff because of budget constraints but loads of people are leaving, so you have loads of people like me walking around that want to work there but can’t because they are not allowed to hire us permanently even though there are places available. Not only that but according to the letter I got I have been promoted! No one told me I was going to be promoted so I am guessing it is a clerical error and as my team leader was off on leave last week I couldn’t speak to him about it and personnel wouldn’t help at all. So for the last few days I have had the heady title of Senior Technical Officer and I want to keep it! But of course tomorrow I am going to be told it was all one big mistake, sorry, here is your old title back again. I was given my very own office mobile phone though! At last! Recognition through a phone!!! .

The taxman has got my goat too. I am waiting for a tax rebate because I was not in the country for most of last year so don’t have to pay all the tax they demanded. I have done everything by the book and filled in all the forms that I had to and what happened? They lose the forms, they sit on them for weeks, they don’t ask me for the additional info they need and now they don’t call me back. I do have a promise from them that they will definitely return my call tomorrow at 9am on the dot. I have even put off a meeting so I can be sitting at my desk awaiting their call. I know they won’t call but I am ever the optimist and they might, they just might!!!

On the plus side this week. The car passed its MOT. YAY!!! All it needed to pass was a new side light. We had put aside 300 pounds to pay for any work it needed doing on it and as it didn’t need any we went on a spending splurge. I bought a new pair of breeches and a nice pair of Mountain Horse Rimfrost boots and my wife bought a new riding hat and some books. You are probably thinking that these are not the most exciting of purchases but trust me they were… well… for us anyhow.

I also learned that if I watch a full England game of football then we lose. I always knew there was a reason why we didn’t watch and this is it! Yes Ms Sally Jacobs it is all my fault we lost. I stopped watching for a bit and we scored, I started watching and we had the goal at the end disallowed, I miss all of the extra time and watch the penalties and again we didn’t do too well. Although thinking about it I am not taking the blame for Becham’s penalty miss. He is paid how much to play football and he can’t even kick the thing!!!! Anyway I do apologise to you for making us lose and I promise never to watch them again ever and hopefully we might win something .

Oh yes, riding, how could I mention my new riding kit without mentioning the riding itself. We tried a new riding school this week and I made a total arse of myself. The horse I was to ride did not like being mounted so kelp moving away from me as I tried to mount. I was told that if I mounted from the wrong side of the horse he would let me get on. Hmmmm. Now thing is mounting from the wrong side is not easy and this is a big horse, 17.2hh at least!!! So there I was, ready to mount, hopping on one leg with my foot in the stirrup and as I push up to mount up he moves, not only does he move but I shift my weight to the wrong side and the next thing I know I am on my arse with the instructor laughing and my wife giggling at me. Ah but I showed them!! I didn’t fall off or anything for the rest of the lesson and not only that but my pole work was faultless, well I didn’t fall off so that is faultless to me!

Now I think I may just womble off and watch Kingdom Hospital then go to bed. Why do they put scary things on late at night just before you are going to go to sleep? Hope I don’t have dreams of having my leg amputated again. But that is for another time. I can see you are looking forward to it…

Guess what MR, you are so banned from watching England now, haha! I wouldn't take the blame for Becks either, he was a huge disappointment!
